Your safari begins with departure from Lusaka, heading toward the Lower Zambezi Valley. As the road drops into the valley, the landscape opens into a beautiful mix of river views, escarpments, acacia trees, and quiet wilderness.

On arrival at Kiambi Safari Lodge, you will settle in and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere along the Zambezi River. Later in the afternoon, you head out for a sunset cruise, a gentle introduction to the river and its wildlife. As the light softens, you may see elephants near the water, hippos in the shallows, and birds settling along the banks.

After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay by the river.

Day 2: Canoeing the Zambezi

After breakfast, your guide will brief you on canoeing techniques, river safety, and what to expect during the journey. Once ready, you begin your canoe safari, paddling downstream through calm channels and beautiful river scenery.

The pace is unhurried, allowing you to take in the sounds of the river, the movement of wildlife, and the wide views of the Lower Zambezi. A support boat travels nearby with the crew and supplies, helping make the experience comfortable and secure.

Morning tea and lunch are served along the riverbank. In the afternoon, you continue downstream to Buffalo Beans Island, where camp will already be set up. The campsite includes tents, mattresses, wash stations, a bucket shower, and a drop toilet.

Dinner is prepared in the open air, followed by an evening around the campfire under the stars.

Wake up to the sounds of the river and enjoy breakfast in the wilderness before continuing downstream. The day brings more time on the water, with changing views of river islands, forested banks, and possible wildlife sightings along the way.

A key part of the day is a visit to a local riverside village. Here, you get a glimpse of daily life along the Zambezi, including the local school, small shops, and community spaces. It is a simple, human experience that adds cultural depth to the safari.

After tea and lunch prepared by the support crew, you continue your canoe journey toward the next riverside campsite. The evening is spent in the wilderness, with dinner, campfire moments, and the peaceful atmosphere of the Zambezi.
