Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge before travelling to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Your guide will explain the gorilla trekking rules, safety procedures and the assigned gorilla family you will visit.
After the briefing, begin your trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with experienced ranger guides. The trek can take from a few hours to most of the day, depending on where the gorilla family is located. The forest trail may be steep, muddy and challenging, but the experience is rewarding.
Once you find the mountain gorillas, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. Watch as they feed, play, groom and interact with one another. This is a rare wildlife encounter and a highlight of any Uganda safari.
After the trek, return to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificate. In the afternoon, return to your lodge to rest. You may choose an optional community walk or Batwa cultural experience, depending on time and interest.
